outdoor activities on foot

Highland Perthshire, at the heart of Scotland, is stunning country crying out to be explored on foot. And you don't have to be seriously active on your activity holiday or break here in Scotland, but if you want to be active then you've come to the right place!

So by all means bring your car, but when you get here, forget about it - let your feet do the walking – or the work - or rise to the challenges which await – just for a change!

For the less adventurous
From a superb round of golf at great courses at Taymouth Castle and Pitlochry (with the great Blairgowrie Rosemount not so far away either) – to superb gentle walking round, and around Loch Tummel and Rannoch, its all here.

For the slightly more adventurous
Famous Schiehallion, hill of the fairies – is one of the easiest and most rewarding Munros in Scotland – and right on our doorstep. Great stag stalking and all grades and varieties of shooting – particularly with our partners the famous Atholl Estates

For great adventure and challenge
Sensational gorge walking at Calvine. And fabulous orienteering opportunities abound in stunning terrain. You can do, and we can organize, a veritable expedition here.

outdoor activities on water

Highland Perthshire, at the very heart of Scotland. Clean, clear water wherever you go - whether sailing or canoeing down Loch Rannoch, fishing or angling superb local lochs and prolific rivers, or shooting white-water rapids!

For the less adventurous
Its got to be great fishing – river fishing on the Tummel, superb highland loch fishing on Loch Rannoch. We can supply the rights, the permits, the boats, the ghillies, the tackle – and tuition for the whole family if required.

For the slightly more adventurous
Sailing, canoeing and cruising on Loch Rannoch - both very relaxing and very rewarding.

For great adventure and challenge
For those who want a less tranquil time there is quite sensational white water canoeing, kayaking and rafting (from the easy to the severe) here in Highland Perthshire where we partner with some of the best watersports companies anywhere in Scotland.

outdoor activities on wheels

What did we do before mountain bikes? The open hills and moors, and stunning glens of Rannoch, Loch Tay and Highland Perthshire were just made for them! And if you prefer not to do the hard work yourself, our off-road driving and safari centre might just be the perfect alternative. There's no doubt about it, if you want to get to know a country - really get to know it - then you're going to have to get off the road at some stage and get right into the heart of the countryside.

For the less adventurous
Pedal your way through some of Europe's finest scenery! You don't need to be super-fit either - our options include gentle cycling on a network of great short routes through quiet forests and level paths, unspoilt and uncluttered roads and country lanes. Or in door go-karting at is very best.

For the slightly more adventurous
Go off-road - find out just how far you can go in a four-wheel drive jeep, land rover or truck at one of our partners’ custom made off-road centres. Or enjoy a highland adventure safari – let someone else do the driving. And whether it's a mountain bike for off-road use or a touring bike for use on the road you don't need your own bike (you can hire it when you arrive).

For great adventure and challenge
Gut-busting, mountain bike ascents (and hair-raising descents!) on demanding hillside trails. Or magnificent quad bike trails with big bikes over rugged terrain. Wonderful scenery! And can be enjoyed by all ages.

outdoor activities on horseback

Come Horse Riding in Beautiful Perthshire! We have great riding all round about us, in dramatic scenery, on unspoiled native ponies.

Here are our partners:

Blair Castle Trekking
The Blair Castle Trekking Centre is set in the grounds of the Castle itself, adjacent to the Deer Park. The Centre has been running since the 1950's, when the 10th Duke of Atholl decided to find summer employment for the ponies used to carry stags and grouse off the hill during the sporting season.

The Centre is approved by the Trekking and Riding Society of Scotland (TRSS), and all the staff are qualified, friendly and familiar with Atholl Estates.

The Centre is open every day from April until mid September, except Saturdays which are the ponies' rest days. Group bookings can be accommodated on a Saturday by special arrangement.
